      A's option Eury De La Rosa, Chad Smith to Triple-A Nashville

      The Athletics announced on Sunday that they optioned pitchers Eury De La Rosa and Chad Smith to Triple-A affiliate Nashville. With the Diamondbacks a year ago, De La Rosa posted a 2.95 ERA in 25 appearances. But with the A's this spring training, De La Rosa has a 4.50 ERA with two earned runs and four hits allowed in four innings pitched. He's struck out five batters. Smith has a 4.50 ERA in two innings pitched for the A's this spring. He's allowed three hits and one earned run while striking out one batter. The Athletics also announced that they have reassigned Matt Buschmann , Bruce Maxwell , Alden Carrithers and Niuman Romero to minor-league camp.

      The Rockies have signed infielder Niuman Romero . Romero has not appeared in the majors since 2010. He spent last season in the Orioles system, appearing in two levels.

      Orioles reassign 2 players to minor-league camp

      The Orioles have reassigned catcher Jose Gil and infielder Niuman Romero to minor-league camp. The club currently has 51 players left at spring training. The team needs to get down to a 25-man roster by the beginning of the year.

      Baseball America reports Wednesday that the Phillies have acquired infielder Niuman Romero from the Blue Jays. He is a career .251 hitter at the minor league level, with 15 homers and 203 RBI since 2005.
