    • Tigers finalize 25-man roster

News: Non-roster Tigers invitees first baseman Jason F. Stokes, shortstop Santo De Leon, catcher Andy Bouchie, catcher John Murrian, catcher Eric Roof, outfielder Ryan Patterson, pitcher Jason Waddell, pitcher Sam Narron, pitcher Macay McBride and pitcher Ruddy Lugo did not make the opening-day roster.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
    • Tigers extend spring training invites

News: The Tigers announced the following minor league invites to spring training: outfielder Ryan Patterson; infielders Jason F. Stokes, Kory Casto, Santo De Leon and Cesar Nicolas; catchers Robinzon Diaz, Mike Rabelo, Max Pierre and Andy Bouchie; and pitchers Phil Dumatrait, Enrique Gonzalez, Ryan Ketchner, Ruddy Lugo, Macay McBride, Sam Narron, Josh Rainwater and Jason Waddell.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues. We fully expect them to open the year in the minors.
    • Blue Jays cut some top prospects

News: The Blue Jays optioned C Curtis Thigpen, C Robinzon Diaz, OF Adam Lind, OF Buck Coats and 3B Joe Inglett to Triple-A Syrcacuse. Also, they returned OF Wayne Lydon and OF Ryan Patterson to minor league camp Thursday.
Analysis: Thigpen has a chance to help out the Blue Jays and deeper AL-only leagues before the year is out. Lind has a nice bat, but he has been unable to prove on the game's top level, while Patterson is an intriguing long-term prospect. Consider these guys in keeper leagues. The others are nothing more than organizational depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
    • Blue Jays hand out spring invites

News: The Blue Jays signed LHP Jesse Carlson, RHP Jeremy Cummings, RHP Jamie Vermilyea, OF Wayne Lydon, RHP Kane Davis and OF Matt Watson to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. They also invited C J.P. Arencibia, C Brian Jeroloman, 1B Chip Cannon, OF Ryan Patterson and OF Travis Snider to spring training.
Analysis: Snider is an elite outfield prospect who might not make the majors before September, while Patterson is a little more advanced than that. They are long-term keeper prospects. The other players here are nothing more than organizational depth, so ignore them on Draft Day.
    • Jays help stock AFL rosters

News: The Jays other non-No. 1 draft pick AFL attendees will be righty Jamie Vermilyea (2-2, 4.42 at Triple-A Syracuse), outfielder Ryan Patterson (.262, 15 homers, 62 RBI at New Hampshire) and Sergio Santos (.252, 20 homers, 61 RBI at New Hampshire).
Analysis: Vermilyea might develop into a decent big league reliever, but little more at this point. Patterson, who has more upside long term, and Santos will be nothing more than reserves for AL-only leagues if or when they arrive in 2008.
    • Patterson to have forearm surgery

News: Toronto OF Ryan Patterson (broken right forearm) is scheduled to have surgery Monday. He suffered a broken right forearm when hit by a pitch from Boston's Edgar Martinez on March 8. He is expected to be out for three months.
Analysis: Patterson, a fourth-round pick in 2005, hit a combined 25 home runs last year when splitting time between Class A Dunedin and Double-A New Hampshire. He's nothing more than a long-term keeper-league option and shouldn't be counted on even in the deepest of AL-only formats at this point. The injury really sets him back, too.
    • Ryan Patterson out until June

News: OF Ryan Patterson suffered a broken right forearm when hit by a pitch from Boston's Edgar Martinez on March 8. He is expected to be out for three months.
Analysis: Patterson, a fourth-round pick in 2005, hit a combined 25 home runs last year when splitting time between Class-A Dunedin and Double-A New Hampshire. He's not worth drafting at this point.
    • Prospect Patterson breaks arm

News: Toronto prospect Ryan Patterson broke his right arm when he was hit by a pitch Thursday against Boston. He is scheduled to have surgery next week.
Analysis: The team has yet to announce a timetable for his return, but he is clearly out of commission for a while. Keep him off Fantasy rosters for the time being.
