    • Braves give 3B Colonel minor deal

News: The Braves signed Christian Colonel to a minor-league contract and assigned him to the Double-A Mississippi Braves on Wednesday.
Analysis: Colonel is nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues.
    • Padres give Colonel minor deal

News: The Padres signed free agent 3B Christian Colonel on Friday.
Analysis: Colonel is nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues.
    • Rockies finalize 25-man roster

News: Outfielder Daniel Ortmeier, outfielder Lew Ford, infielder Christian Colonel, catcher Sal Fasano, second baseman Jon Herrera, shortstop Chris Nelson, pitcher Josh Fogg and pitcher Matt Belisle did not make the Rockies' 25-man roster.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues right now.
    • Rockies announce some spring invites

News: The Colorado Rockies invited RHP Jhoulys Chacin, 3B Christian Colonel, OF Chris Frey, RHP Brandon Hynick, C Michael McKenry and OF Matt J. Miller to spring training. Also, they signed C Sal Fasano to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training.
Analysis: Chacin is an elite pitching prospect who should impact all Fantasy leagues this season. Watch him closely this spring and in the first half. The rest figure to have too limited of roles to help in any Fantasy format if they make it up on the roster this season.
    • Rockies cut five from spring camp

News: The Rockies reassigned INF Christian Colonel, SS Chris Nelson, OF Dexter Fowler, OF Joe Gaetti and C Neil Wilson to minor league camp Tuesday.
Analysis: Nelson, Fowler and Gaetti are prospects that might have futures in the big leagues, but all of these players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point and don't figure to impact Fantasy leagues in 2008. Ignore them on Draft Day.
    • Rockies hand out spring invites

News: The Rockies invited non-roster invitees RHPs Alberto Arias, Darren Clarke, Brandon Hynick, Zach McClellan, Greg Reynolds, Casey Weathers and Victor Zambrano, LHPs Micah Bowie, Chris George, John Koronka and Sean Thompson, 3B Christian Colonel, 2B Marcus Giles, 2B Matt Kata and SS Chris Nelson, OFs Sean Barker, Dexter Fowler, Joe Gaetti and Scott Podsednik, Cs Michael Rose, Michael McKenry and Neil Wilson to spring training.
Analysis: Reynolds, Weathers, Nelson, Fowler, Hynick and arguably Gaetti are top prospects, while the rest of these players are nothing more than organizational depth. Consider the prospects (in the above order) as potential long-term minor league keeper options and ignore the rest of these guys even in deeper NL-only leagues on Draft Day. Giles or Podsednik do have a chance to rediscover himself, but don't count on it at this point.
