Pirates 3B Aramis Ramirez held out of Wednesday's lineup

Pirates third baseman Aramis Ramirez (groin) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Rockies. Ramirez may have injured himself while running out a triple during yesterday's game, so it's not surprising to see him out of Wednesday's contest. He's still day to day moving forward. Josh Harrison will get the start at third base and hit second in the lineup.

Pirates' Aramis Ramirez triples, leaves game with groin tightness

Pirates infielder Aramis Ramirez left Tuesday's game in the sixth inning with tightness in his left groin. He was replaced by Neil Walker and went 1 for 3 with a RBI triple before exiting. The fact that he ran for a triple at his age (37) and then felt tightness is not surprising. Ramirez should be day-to-day going forward.

Pirates' 1B Aramis Ramirez receives first start at first base

For the first time in his career, Aramis Ramirez started at first base for the Pirates during Tuesday's game at Cincinnati, reports Ramirez has been working at first base during practice over the last two weeks at the team's request. "It was a big ask," Pirates manager Clint Hurdle said. "I don't know where it's going to go, but I wanted to make sure that we looked at all our options moving forward." Ramirez did not make any errors at first during Tuesday's game, but he went 0 for 4 at the plate. "We need to look at the option, I felt, at this particular point in time in the season," Hurdle said. "If it's good, we have more time to work with it. And if it's not, we know, and we cut the line and we move off."
