• Mets cut slew of players from camp

News: The Mets optioned LHP Adam Bostick to Triple-A New Orleans and sent RHP Robert Parnell, RHP Eddie Kunz, RHP Juan Padilla, RHP Andy Cavazos, RHP Brant Rustich, RHP Ivan Maldonado, LHP Jonathan Niese, LHP Ryan Cullen, C Salomon Manriquez, C Mike Nickeas, SS Anderson Machado, OF Ben Johnson to minor league camp for reassignment.
Analysis: Kunz and Rustich are top relief prospects who can help before the end of the year, while Niese is one of the Mets best starting prospects. Johnson has pop, but he is coming off a serious ankle injury. Parnell is a decent pitching prospect, too, but all of these guys can be ignored in non-keeper formats at this point.
  • Mets invite eight to spring

News: The Mets agreed to minor league contracts with right-handers Juan Padilla, Joselo Diaz and Andy Cavazos; left-hander Ryan Cullen; infielders Anderson Machado and Fernando Tatis; and catchers Robinson Cancel and Salomon Manriquez.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues at this point.
  • Manriquez optioned by Rangers

News: The Rangers optioned C Salomon Manriquez to Triple-A Oklahoma City.
Analysis: Manriquez is a very low end prospect who isn't worth a look in Fantasy Baseball at the moment. Only a call up to the majors would begin to change that.
  • Rangers give out spring invites

News: The Rangers have invited these non-roster players to camp: C Salomon Manriquez, C Kevin Richardson, RP Jose Vargas, RP Scott Rice and SP Eric Hurley.
Analysis: None of these players are worth considering even in the deepest of AL-only leagues at this point.
