      Rangers get Will Venable from Padres for Marcus Greene

      The Rangers acquired outfielder Will Venable from the Padres, the team announced on Tuesday. In exchange, the Rangers traded catcher/outfielder Marcus Greene and a player to be named later to the Padres. Venable was hitting .258 with six home runs and 30 RBI for the Padres. Greene was hitting .218 for Class A Hickory. To clear a spot for Venable on the 40-man roster, the Rangers designated Michael Choice for assignment. Choice had appeared in one game for the team.

Venable launched his solo shot in the second inning to give the Padres an early 3-0 lead. He now has four home runs and 15 RBI on the season.       Padres CF Will Venable records two-run triple in win on Tuesday

      Padres center fielder Will Venable had a nice night in Tuesday's 7-2 victory over the Mets. Venable had two hits, inclduing his second triple of the season. He drove in two runs and scored once, as he upped his season batting average to .260. His two-run triple in the second inning put his team up 4-1. Venable has been playing fairly regularly with the absence of Wil Myers. Over his last 10 games (nine starts), Venable is batting .270 (10 for 37).
