      Dexter Fowler: Declines qualifying offer

Fowler turned down the Cubs' qualifying offer Friday and will remain a free agent, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports. Fowler suffered a bit of a dip in average but enjoyed a resurgence in his power and speed en route to hitting 17 homers and swiping 20 bases. He'll be 30 by the start of the 2016 season but should still command a multi-year deal on the free agent market and the Cubs will get a compensatory draft pick if he signs elsewhere.

Yes, Wacha is right-handed, but his career splits have him clearly more effective against left-handed hitters, so this is a move from Joe Maddon playing the statistics.
