    • Phillies announce slew of minor deals

      News: The Phillies announced the invitation of 10 players to spring training as non-roster invitees Wednesday. They include: right-handers Dave Borkowski, Justin Lehr, Blaine Neal and Mike Koplove, corner infielder Mike Cervenak, third baseman Terry Tiffee, first baseman Andy Tracy, outfielder Chris Walker, shortstop Ozzie Chavez and utility player J.J. Furmaniak. The following players were signed as minor league free agents: right-handers Yorman Bazardo, Yoel Hernandez and Justin Pope, left-handers Jason Mackintosh and Joshua Shortslef, first baseman/outfielder Brian Stavisky and outfielders Casey Craig, Kevin Mahar, Wilkin Ruan, Mike Spidale and Rich C. Thompson.
      Analysis: These players are long shots to get time on the roster as a seldom-used reserves this season. They are nothing more than organizational depth at this point in their careers, so ignore him in all Fantasy leagues right now.
    • Phillies give RP Pope minor deal

      News: The Phillies signed RHPs Jason Anderson, Matt Childers, Justin Pope and Kris Wilson and LHP R.J. Swindle, INFs Gookie Dawkins, Joey Hammond and Juan Tejeda, OFs Jake Blalock, Branden Florence and Mike Spidale, and Cs Orlando Guevara and John Suomi to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training.
      Analysis: A first-round selection of the Cardinals in 2001 (28th overall), Pope, 28, spent parts of the past five seasons in the Yankees' minor league system and has a 3.41 ERA. He is nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
