• Rockies give Muecke a minor deal

News: The Rockies signed free agent LHP Josh Muecke to a minor league deal on Friday.
Analysis: Muecke is nothing more than organizational depth at this point in his career. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues.
  • Slew of Astros demoted to minors

News: The Astros optioned RHP Paul Estrada, RHP Fernando Nieve and RHP Chad Reineke and OF Yordany Ramirez to Triple-A Round Rock; and RHP Sammy Gervacio and RHP Brad James to Double-A Corpus Christi. Also, they reassigned INF Tommy Manzella, 1B Lance Niekro and LHP Josh Muecke to minor league camp.
Analysis: Nieve, Estrada and Reineke could help the team before the end of the season, but all of these guys are nothing more than organizational depth and can be ignored on Draft Day at this point.
  • Muecke struggles Tuesday

News: The Houston Chronicle reports that Josh Muecke struggled in the eighth inning against Detroit in a spring training game Tuesday. He gave up three runs on five hits over two-thirds of an inning. On Sunday, he gave up a run on two hits and three walks.
Analysis: The Astros are struggling to find a good left-handed reliever in their bullpen. Mark McLemore, Stephen Randolph and Wesley Wright haven't been outstanding, although Wright is leading the pack. None are worth picking up in anything outside of very large NL-only leagues.
