Brad Ausmus has stated that the surprisingly strong one-inning stint by Tigers shortstop and knuckleballer Danny Worth on Thursday will not transform him into a full-time pitcher anytime soon. Tigers expect Jose Iglesias to sit out 2014 season

Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said Thursday the team is preparing to play the 2014 season without shortstop Jose Iglesias. Dombrowski said a CT scan "indicated bilateral tibia stress fractures." "Jose's activity will be limited to non-weight bearing conditioning for the next 4-6 months. He will be re-evaluated at the four-month mark," Dombrowski said, per The Detroit News. "That late into the year, my thought process is that it would be more unlikely than likely (that Iglesias will play again this season). My understanding, though, is that he will be fine for next season." Dombrowski added the Tigers are still looking for an internal candidate to replace Iglesias. The three shortstop candidates currently with the team are Danny Worth, Hernan Perez and Eugenio Suarez.
