    • Season-ending surgery for Horne

News: Yankees pitcher Alan Horne needs major shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff.
Analysis: Horne was once a well-regarded prospect, but now his career hangs in the balance for at least the next year. Ignore him in all Fantasy leagues.
    • Horne ready to return to Triple-A

News: RHP Alan Horne, one the Yankees' top starting pitching prospects, allowed six runs and six hits over 5 2/3 innings in his last extended spring start Monday. On the Triple-A disabled list with a biceps injury, he struck six out and walked one during his 76-pitch outing.
Analysis: Horne is nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the Yankees or the deepest of AL-only leagues this season if he gets a call-up. He is not an elite enough of a prospect to consider in most long-term keeper leagues.
    • Horne makes extended spring start

News: RHP Alan Horne, one of the Yankees' top starting pitching prospects, allowed one run, four hits and struck out seven over 3 2/3 innings in his third extended spring start. He is on the Triple-A DL with a biceps injury.
Analysis: Horne will return to the Triple-A rotation soon, but he is nothing more than a low-end middle reliever for the Yankees or the deepest of AL-only leagues this season if he gets a call-up. He is not an elite enough of a prospect to consider in most long-term keeper leagues.
    • Horne pitches in extended spring

News: One of the Yankees' top starting pitching prospects, RHP Alan Horne, threw 26 pitches over two scoreless innings Monday. On the DL with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with a biceps injury, Horne is scheduled to throw 50 pitches in an extended spring game Thursday.
Analysis: Horne is a potential middle reliever for the Yankees and deeper AL-only leagues that use true middle men this season. Ignore the prospect in all Fantasy leagues until he proves healthy and worthy of a call-up. He is a late second-half returnee at this point.
    • Horne among slew of Yankees cuts

News: The Yankees reassigned RHP Alan Horne, RHP Jeff Marquez, LHP Chase Wright, RHP Steven Jackson, RHP Daniel McCutchen, RHP Mark Melancon, RHP Scott Strickland and 3B Marcos Vechionacci to minor league camp. Also, they optioned RHP Steven White to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Analysis: Horne, Marquez, Wright and White should help the Yankees at some point this season. But all of these guys are nothing more than minor league depth at the start of the season. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues at this point.
