    • Cards make first round of cuts

News: The Cardinals cut nine players from major-league camp on Sunday. They were Zack Cox, Shelby Miller, Donovan Solano, Nick Derba, Robert Stock, Audry Perez, Steve Hill, Kevin Thomas and Scott McGregor.
Analysis: The only players worth mentioning as long-term keepers are Cox and Miller. The rest of the cut players are organizational depth and can be ignored in Fantasy.
    • Phelps among slew of Cardinals cuts

News: The Cardinals reassigned C Bryan Anderson, RHP Mitchell Boggs, RHP Dewon Brazelton, C David Carpenter, C Nick Derba, 3B David Freese, LHP Jaime Garcia, C Gabe Johnson, RHP Adam Ottavino, RHP Chris Perez, 1B Josh Phelps, OF Nick Stavinoha, RHP P.J. Walters, IF Rico Washington and C Brandon Yarbrough to minor league camp.
Analysis: Phelps has pop in his bat and looked capable of making the team as Albert Pujols' backup, but that job goes to Chris Duncan. Anderson is a top catching prospect and Freese has some intriguing pop, but the rest of these players are nothing more than organizational depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues.
    • Brazelton among Cardinals cuts

News: The Cardinals reassigned 10 players to minor league camp Monday: RHP Mitchell Boggs, RHP Dewon Brazelton, LHP Jaime Garcia, RHP Adam Ottavino, RHP P.J. Walters, RHP Tyler Herron, RHP Stuart Pomeranz, C David Carpenter, C Nick Derba and C Brandon Yarbrough. They now have 57 players in camp, which doesn't include Juan Encarnacion (eye), who is out for the season and perhaps for his career after being hit by a pitch last year.
Analysis: Brazelton is a bust of a former No. 1 pick by the Rays. The rest of these players are nothing more than organizational depth and can be ignored in all Fantasy leagues on Draft Day.
    • Cards hand out spring invites

News: The Cardinals signed RHP Cliff Politte, C Gabe Johnson, C Matt Pagnozzi and OF Juan Gonzalez to minor league contracts with invitations to spring training. Also, they invited farm hands LHP Jaime Garcia, RHP Clayton Mortensen, RHP Adam Ottavino, RHP Chris Perez, RHP P.J. Walters, C Bryan Anderson, C David Carpenter, C Nick Derba, C Brandon Yarbrough, 3B David Freese, OF Amaury Marti, OF Colby Rasmus and OF Nick Stavinoha to spring training.
Analysis: Rasmus is an elite prospect -- a future 30-30 outfielder -- while Anderson is a nice catcher prospect. Most of these other players are nothing more than organizational depth or at best big league reserves, so ignore them on Draft Day.
