Kulbacki struggling in minorsNews: Padres prospect Kellen Kulbacki has 10 hits in 62 at bats (.161) for Double-A San Antonio. He has no home runs and four RBI. Analysis: Kulbacki got a late start to the season due to injury, but is clearly far off from a call up to the majors at this point. He is not worth owning in most Fanatasy formats at this time.
Injured Padres prospects returningNews: From the The Sports Xchange: 2B Matt Antonelli has finally started playing for Triple-A Portland (Ore.) after missing the first six weeks of the season with a leg injury. He is one of several top Padres prospects who got a late start to the 2009 season because of injuries, the list including left fielder Kellen Kulbacki (Double-A San Antonio) and OF Jaff Decker and RHP Matt Latos (Class A Fort Wayne). Analysis: Antonelli and perhaps Kulbacki could get looks later this year, while Decker and Latos are nothing more than long-term keeper league fliers at this point. There was a time Antonelli was the best second base prospect in all of the minors.
Kulbacki struggling in Double-ANews: Padres prospect Kellen Kulbacki has just two hits in eight at bats for Double-A San Antonio. He started the season in extended spring training while rehabbing a torn labrum. Analysis: The prospect had offseason surgery on his shoulder and is only now getting going down in the minors. He should only be owned in long-term keeper leagues at this point.
