Reds pitcher Dylan Axelrod impressed again in a spot start Thursday, as he took down the Cubs, 7-2. Axelrod received plenty of early support, but hardly needed it as he twirled five shutout innings. He was pulled at 100 pitches, after striking out eight batters and scattering two hits and three walks in the outing. At this point, it is not clear if Axelrod is expected to remain in the rotation moving forward, though he could remain with the team with rosters expanding soon. He has allowed just two runs in 11 innings of work over two starts, with one win.
