Neftali Feliz: Inks one-year deal with Pittsburgh

Feliz signed a one-year, $3.9 million deal with the Pirates on Wednesday, Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan reports. If anyone can salvage Feliz's career as a late-inning arm, it might be the Pirates and pitching coach Ray Searage. His K-rate has been below 20 percent in each of the past three seasons, and he has an ERA over 4.00 in each of the past two campaigns. The Tigers recently opted not to tender him a contract, which speaks to his lack of believers within the industry. While this is a nice landing spot for the 27-year-old righty, he will likely find himself pitching in middle relief in a loaded Pirates bullpen.

      Neftali Feliz: Non-tendered by Tigers

Feliz will not be tendered a contract by the Tigers. With the Tigers opting against tendering Feliz a contract heading into his third winter of arb eligibility, the former Rangers closer is now a free agent. It's hardly a surprise Detroit went this route, as Feliz would have been due upwards of $5 million for 2016 and is coming off what was by far the worst season of his career.

Tigers RP Neftali Feliz implodes in ninth-inning loss Saturday

Tigers reliever Neftali Feliz (3-4) endured a blown save and loss Saturday night, giving up two earned runs on two hits and two walks in a 4-3 defeat to the White Sox. Feliz had converted each of his last three save opportunities entering Saturday, occupying the ninth inning role amid Bruce Rondon's dismissal from the team. The 27-year-old's dreadful peripherals caught up with him, however, resulting in a disastrous walk-off loss against the White Sox. Feliz's closing days should be in the rear-view mirror after the season.

Tigers RP Neftali Feliz picks up save in win over Twins on Friday

Tigers reliever Neftali Feliz logged his ninth save with a clean inning of work against the Twins on Friday night. He struck out one. With Bruce Rondon in the Tigers' doghouse, Feliz has been given a chance to pitch in the ninth inning as the season winds down. He posted six saves for Texas before losing the job, and now has three saves for Detroit. He appears to be the interim closer, but his 6.17 ERA should raise plenty of warning flags.

Report: RP Neftali Feliz chooses to become a free agent

Former Rangers reliever Neftali Feliz , who was designated for assignment on July 3, has elected to become a free agent, a source tells SBNation.com. Feliz will forfeit about $2 million as he looks to resurrect his career with a new team. At 27 years of age, Feliz could certainly be an interesting option to a team in need of late-inning relief help. Injuries have derailed a once-promising career, but he does own a career 2.69 ERA in just over 260 innings of work.

Rangers RP Neftali Feliz designated for assignment on Friday

Right-hander Neftali Feliz has been designated for assignment by the Rangers, following their 8-2 loss to the Angels on Friday. Feliz, who was the American League Rookie of the Year in 2010 when he saved 40 games, has struggled to stay heathy for the better part of his tenure with the Rangers. In 2015, Feliz posted a 4.58 ERA in 19 2/3 innings of relief. He pitched two scoreless innings on Friday. However, the Rangers needed space on the 40-man roster for Matt Harrison, who is being activated from the 60-day disabled list, according to The Dallas Morning News. "It was a tough call," general manager Jon Daniels said, per MLB.com. "Mostly from the fact that Neftali has been on most of the great moments in franchise history. He is still young, talented and works hard. But the consistency wasn't there at this point and his role wasn't clearly defined. We'll see if we're able to trade him. He is going to pitch a while longer."
