Angels land pitcher Mat Latos on minor-league deal

Right-handed pitcher Mat Latos signed with the Angels on Monday, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports. Just three days after being released by the Dodgers, Latos has found another home with the other Los Angeles club. He won't be available for the postseason, but it's possible the veteran will receive a start before the regular season comes to a close. The terms of the contract remains unclear, but Latos will provide them an extra arm over the last week of the regular season as they attempt to earn a playoff berth.

Dodgers designate SP Mat Latos for assignment

Dodgers starting pitcher Mat Latos was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Thursday, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports. Latos was moved to the bullpen after struggling since the trade to Los Angeles, and now he has lost his spot on the 40-man roster. It's possible that another team will claim him, but if not, he will likely have the option to elect free agency or accept an assignment to the minors.

Dodgers SP Mat Latos gets Wednesday's start

The Dodgers will turn to pitcher Mat Latos to start Wednesday's game against the Angels, reports Latos is 0-2 in five starts for the Dodgers this season. Struggles for Dodgers' Mat Latos continue on Thursday

Dodgers starter Mat Latos turned in another subpar performance on Thursday against the Padres. Latos allowed four runs on eight hits over four innings. Latos gave up a pair of runs in each of the first two innings, which continues a troubling trend for the veteran right-hander. Coming into the game, Latos owned a 5.46 ERA over the first three innings of his starts in 2015. The Dodgers got Latos off the hook in this one, as they were able to rally back to take a lead in the middle innings. They would wind up losing the game 10-7, however. Latos has now failed to go at least five innings in each of his last four starts, allowing at least four runs in three of those outings. He is still seeking his first win as a member of the Dodgers.

Dodgers' Bolsinger starting Friday to give rotation an extra day of rest

Dodgers pitcher Mike Bolsinger will start Friday's game against the Padres, manager Don Mattingly announced after Wednesday's game against the Giants. "We've been wanting to slip him into the rotation to either move somebody forward or to give someone an extra day," Mattingly said, per "Just if somebody needs a blow, kind of looking at all our guys individually and what's best for them." Mattingly said they don't plan to skip anyone in the rotation, so all the starters (Clayton Kershaw, Zack Greinke, Brett Anderson, Alex Wood and Mat Latos) will get an extra day of rest moving forward. Bolsinger's last MLB start was July 29. He is 5-3 with a 2.83 ERA in 16 starts this season. "You can anticipate he's going to be in this rotation for at least a turn," Mattingly said.

Dodgers SP Mat Latos fails to go five in no-decision

If Dodgers starter Mat Latos didn't require 86 pitches to get through 4 2/3 innings Saturday against the Cubs, he might have stuck around long enough for a few runs to get him a win. As it was, he had to accept a a no-decision after allowing two runs on four hits with three walks and five strikeouts. The only runs that scored against Latos came via a sacrifice fly in the third inning and passed ball in the fifth. But he retired the Cubs in order only once and had to work his way out of jams in the other innings. Latos has struggled since arriving in Los Angeles, particularly over his last three starts, when he has given up 12 runs in 17 1/3 innings. He has not won a decision since July 21.
