Yankees' Deibinson Romero: Signs minor league contract with Yankees on Monday

Romero signed a minor league contract with the Yankees on Monday, Matt Eddy of Baseball America reports. Romero spent 2015 with the Doosan Bears of the Korean Baseball Organization. In 76 games, the 29-year-old had a .777 OPS with 12 home runs and 50 RBI. With the recent development of Greg Bird's shoulder surgery, Romero could compete for the backup first base job in spring training, but it's also likely that he'll just act as organizational depth at the corner infield positions.
