Mets' Alderson comfortable with pitching depth after Blevins injury

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said he's comfortable with the team's pitching depth in the wake of the injury to Jerry Blevins, due to the development of several pitchers and the presence of Alex Torres, who like Blevins was acquired just before the start of the regular season, reports. "[Blevins has] been great for the first couple of weeks of the season, and we'll expect he'll be great when he comes back," Alderson said. "In the meantime, somebody else is going to have to step up. Although we've lost Jerry, we still have far more depth than we had say mid-spring training, just because of the development of a couple of the guys and the fact that we also have Alex Torres." Though the Mets' bullpen has pieced together a mediocre 3.38 ERA in the first two weeks of the season, hitters have just a .174 batting average against Mets relievers, which is third best in the majors. The Mets will replace Blevins in the bullpen with righty Hansel Robles, who has struck out 10 batters while tossing 7 2/3 scoreless innings with Triple-A Las Vegas.
