      Mets sign David Cooper, send him to Double-A

      The Mets have signed first baseman David Cooper to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Double-A Binghamton, ESPN New York reports. Cooper hit .300/.324/.464 with four home runs and 11 RBI in 140 at-bats with the Blue Jays in 2012 but hasn't seen major-league action since. He hit .224/.319/.273 with no home runs and 14 RBI in 143 at-bats with Triple-A Columbus last season.
