      Steve Edlefsen retires from baseball

      Dodgers pitcher Steve Edlefsen has decided to retire from baseball, reports. Edlefsen made 27 appearances with the Giants in 2011 and 2012, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 15:16 K:BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings. He pitched the the Dodgers' Triple-A affiliate this season, allowing 11 earned runs in 8 1/3 innings.

      Dodgers sign two to minor-league deals after open tryout

      The Dodgers signed pitchers Danny Keller and Steve Edlefsen to minor-league contracts after Thursday's open tryout, reports. Keller spent three seasons in the Milwakee minor-league system after being selected in the sixth round of the 2011 first-year player draft. Edlefsen pitched for the Giants in 2011 and 2012, going 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA, 1.99 WHIP and 15:16 K:BB ratio in 26 2/3 innings over 27 appearances.

      Giants ship 20 players to minors

      The San Francisco Giants completed another round of roster cuts Friday, optioning pitchers Dan Otero, Jake Dunning, Chris Heston and Sandy Rosario, shortstops Ehire Adrianza and Nick Noonan and outfielders Roger Kieschnick and Juan Perez to Triple-A Fresno. Pitcher Edwin Escobar was sent to Class A San Jose. The team also reassigned Brett Bochy, Boof Bonser, Steve Edlefsen, Heath Hembree, Michael Kickham, Mitch Lively, Shane Loux, Ricky Oropesa, Adam Duvall, Brock Bond and Gary Brown to its minor-league camp.

      The Giants outrighted pitcher Steve Edlefsen to Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday. He was designated for assignment last week.
