Teaford and Gomes were in the mix for spots on the 25-man roster before being reassigned.       FOX Sports reports among the players accepting 50-game suspensions for their connection to the Biogenesis investigation are Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz, Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta, Phillies reliever Antonio Bastardo, Mets infielder Jordany Valdespin , Padres shortstop Everth Cabrera, Yankees catcher Francisco Cervelli, Mariners catcher Jesus Montero, Mets outfielder Cesar Puello, Astros reliever Sergio Escalona, Padres reliever Fautino De Los Santos, Yankees outfielder Fernando Martinez and free-agent pitcher Jordan Norberto. The report also states Athletics starting pitcher Bartolo Colon, Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal and Blue Jays outfielder Melky Cabrera will be dealt no additional discipline. Also, no violations were found against Nationals pitcher Gio Gonzalez and Orioles infielder Danny Valencia.

      Jordan Norberto files grievance against Athletics

      Former Athletics reliever Jordan Norberto has filed a grievance against the Athletics over the handling of his injured elbow, the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Norberto claims his elbow was hurt before the Athletics optioned him to Triple-A Sacramento and therefore he should have remained on the major league roster instead of eventually being placed on the minor league disabled list. Norberto was eventually released by the Athletics. Norberto underwent Tommy John surgery Thursday and isn't expected to resume pitching until March.

He gave up six earned runs on seven walks during a three-game stretch. Norberto was a key member of the club's bullpen last year. In 52 innings, he had a 2.77 ERA and a 3.90 FIP.

Norberto will not require surgery and that is considered a positive development. Norberto is expected to pitch in relief with Triple-A Sacramento, when healthy enough to return.
