Twins make several more cutsNews: Minnesota finalized their 25-man roster on Sunday and the following players did not make the team: OF Juan Portes, 1B Chris Parmelee, 2B Brian Dinkelman, 3B Brock Peterson, SS Toby Gardenhire, SP Anthony Slama and SP Kyle Waldrop. Analysis: The pitchers above, Slama and Waldrop, are solid prospects to be monitored for a possible late-season recall. Still, they'd only have value in AL-only leagues until they proved themselves. The rest of the players above have no Fantasy value at this time as organizational depth.
Portes goes yard twiceNews: Minnesota OF Juan Portes hit a grand slam and a two-run homer Sunday against the Yankees. He finished 2 for 2 with 6 RBI. Analysis: Portes finished his 2009 campaign batting .297 with six home-runs and 40 RBI in Double-A New Britain. He doesn't figure to have any role in the majors this season, and Portes can go undrafted come Draft Day.
Twins announce spring invitesNews: The Minnesota Twins have announced the following spring training invitees: outfielders Ben Revere, Rene Tosoni and Juan Portes; infielders Chris Parmelee, Brock Peterson, Steve Singleton and Brian Dinkelman; catchers Jair Fernandez, Danny Lehmann and Danny Rams; and pitchers Kyle Waldrop, Anthony Slama, Mike Maroth and Jose Lugo. Analysis: Revere, Parmelee, Waldrop, Tosoni and Slama are the best prospects of this group, but they are merely minor league stashees. We fully expect all of these players to not make the team and open the year in the minors.
