Tigers' Jose Iglesias: Agrees to one-year deal with Tigers

Iglesias agreed to a one-year, $2.1 million contract with the Tigers on Friday to avoid arbitration, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports. Iglesias' deal includes some performance bonuses that could increase his salary for the season, but the 26-year-old will need to remain healthy to reach the benchmarks. After batting a respectable .300/.347/.370 with two home runs last season, Iglesias should once again serve as the Tigers' starting shortstop, but his fantasy upside pretty limited given his lack of power and ability to swipe bases.

Tigers SS Jose Iglesias unlikely to return in 2015

Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias (finger) is not expected to return this season, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports. The Tigers were leaving the door open for Iglesias to play again, but he simply hasn't progressed in his recovery quickly enough to make it back. Iglesias has yet to be cleared to hit after suffering a non-displaced chip fracture in his right middle finger in early September. Manager Brad Ausmus said he'd be "shocked" if the shortstop took BP this weekend.

Tigers hopeful for return of SS Jose Iglesias (finger) in 2015

Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias (finger) has not been ruled out for the remainder of the season, James Schmehl of reports. The 25-year-old shortstop underwent follow-up testing Friday, two weeks after being diagnosed with a small, non-displaced chip fracture in his right middle finger. While the results of his tests have not been disclosed, it sounds like the team is still holding out hope he can make it back onto the field this season. Even if Iglesias does return, he would have a very small window to make a fantasy impact.
