      Angels release Korea-bound Zach Stewart

      The Angels released pitcher Zach Stewart from his minor-league contract on Monday. Stewart plans to sign with the NC Dinos in Korea. He was 1-2 with a 3.43 ERA at Triple-A Salt Lake.

      Angels sign Stewart, Herrmann to minor-league deals

      The Angels have signed pitchers Zach Stewart and Frank Herrmann to minor-league deals, according to the Los Angeles Times. Both players will receive an invite to spring training. Stewart, 28, spent last season in the minors. He posted a 4.58 ERA over 110 innings. The 30-year-old Herrmann spent all of last season in Triple-A. He posted a 6.37 ERA over 29 2/3 innings.

      Braves trade for White Sox pitcher Zach Stewart

      The Braves acquired starting pitcher Zach Stewart from the White Sox Monday in exchange for cash. Stewart spent the 2013 season in the minors, compiling a 6-14 record and 4.25 ERA in 28 starts for Triple-A Charlotte.

      White Sox kick five off roster

      The White Sox made another round of roster cuts Tuesday, optioning pitcher Deunte Heath and third baseman Brent Morel to Triple-A Charlotte. Chicago also reassigned pitchers Daniel Moskos and Zach Stewart and shortstop Carlos Sanchez to its minor-league camp.

      Zach Stewart hit hard in first spring start

      White Sox pitcher Zach Stewart endured his worst outing of the spring in his first Cactus League start against the Royals Sunday. Stewart ran into trouble early on as he allowed four runs in the opening frame. He was rocked for seven runs on eight hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. He also issued three walks and saw his spring ERA rise to 6.75 on the year.

      White Sox nab Stewart

      The White Sox claimed recently-waived pitcher Zach Stewart from the Pirates Thursday, reacquiring one of the pieces of their Kevin Youkilis trade from last season. Stewart was waived last week, after the Pirates acquired him for a player to be named later from the Red Sox. Stewart could serve as insurance in case John Danks is not recovered from shoulder surgery.

      To make room on the roster for the re-signed Jeff Karstens, the Pirates designated Zach Stewart for assignment on Thursday. Stewart, 26, had an 8.58 ERA in 20 games last season, split between the White Sox and Red Sox.
