    • Tigers trim roster by five

News: The Tigers assigned catcher Robinzon Diaz, first baseman Jeff Larish, relievers Robbie Weinhardt and Josh Rainwater to the minor leagues Tuesday. Shortstop Brent Dlugach was optioned to Triple-A. The cuts made it official that rookie catcher Alex Avila has made the team as a backtop to Gerald Laird. "I'm super excited to be able to continue to develop at the major league level rather than in the minor leagues," Avila told the "Now I can continue to learn from Gerald, and catch Justin, Max and Rick."
Analysis: Dlugach and Larish could help the Tigers this season with their pop, but they really aren't long-term keeper-quality prospects. Diaz, Weinhardt and Rainwater would have too limited of roles to help Fantasy owners if they are called up. Ignore these guys on Draft Day.
    • Tigers extend spring training invites

News: The Tigers announced the following minor league invites to spring training: outfielder Ryan Patterson; infielders Jason F. Stokes, Kory Casto, Santo De Leon and Cesar Nicolas; catchers Robinzon Diaz, Mike Rabelo, Max Pierre and Andy Bouchie; and pitchers Phil Dumatrait, Enrique Gonzalez, Ryan Ketchner, Ruddy Lugo, Macay McBride, Sam Narron, Josh Rainwater and Jason Waddell.
Analysis: These players are nothing more than organizational depth at this point. Ignore them in all Fantasy leagues. We fully expect them to open the year in the minors.
