Athletics catcher Josh Phegley (concussion) will miss the rest of the season, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports. This was expected after Billy Butler accidentally made contact with Phegley's head during batting practice on Tuesday, worsening the catcher's existing concussion-related symptoms. Stephen Vogt could return to the catching duties sometime this weekend, with Carson Blair and Bryan Anderson sharing the duties in the short term.

A's C/1B Stephen Vogt does sit on Tuesday

As expected, Athletics slugger Stephen Vogt is getting the day off on Tuesday, as he has been held out of the starting lineup against the Padres. Vogt had started each of the last nine games, and has dealt with a few nagging injuries over the last couple of weeks, so manager Bob Melvin opted to give Vogt the day off. Vogt has had a rough go if it at the plate this month, as his batting average has dropped from .322 to .281 thanks to a 6-for-43 skid at the dish. Josh Phegley will draw the start behind the plate with Billy Butler making just his second start at first base this season.
