      The Yankees signed outfielder Corey Patterson to a minor-league contract and assigned him to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Friday. Patterson batted just .175 for Triple-A Tacoma before the Mariners released him earlier this month.

      Corey Patterson signs with Mariners

      The Mariners signed outfielder Corey Patterson to a minor-league contract Tuesday, MLB.com reports. Patterson is expected to go to extended spring training and then head to Triple-A Tacoma when he's ready. The 33-year-old Patterson last played in the majors in 2011 with Toronto and St. Louis. He's a career .252 hitter over parts of 12 seasons.
