      Reds recall Holmberg, Sampson; option Skipworth; Adcock to DL

      The Reds optioned catcher Kyle Skipworth to Double-A Pensacola on Thursday to clear a roster spot for starting pitcher David Holmberg, who is joining the rotation in the wake of the Johnny Cueto trade. They also recalled reliever Keyvius Sampson from Triple-A Louisville to take the roster spot of reliever Nate Adcock, who was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

      Reds promote Nate Adcock, option Jumbo Diaz to Triple-A

      The Reds have promoted pitcher Nate Adcock from Triple-A Louisville and optioned pitcher Jumbo Diaz to the same club. Adcock owns a 2.96 ERA and 20:7 K:BB ratio in 24 1/3 innings with Lousville. His addition to the active roster will mean that a 40-man roster spot will be cleared prior to gametime. Diaz was 2-1 with a 6.65 ERA and 25:5 K:BB ratio in 23 innings. He had allowed a pair of earned runs in two of his last three appearances.

      Reds announce cuts Monday, release veteran Paul Maholm

      The Reds made another rounds of cuts Monday, which included the release of veteran pitcher Paul Maholm, who was competing for a spot on the pitching staff this spring. Other moves Monday included optioning pitcher Pedro Villarreal to Triple-A Louisville, as well as reassigning pitcher Nate Adock, infielder Ivan De Jesus Jr., infielder Irving Falu and catcher Kyle Skipworth to minor-league camp.

      Rangers attempt to outright three

      The Rangers tried to outright three players to Triple-A Friday. Both Ed Lucas and Alfredo Figaro accepted the assignments and will head to Triple-A. Nate Adcock declined the assignment and will become a free-agent.

      Nate Adcock sent down Thursday

      Rangers pitcher Nate Adcock has been sent down Thursday. Adcock was optioned in order to make room for Robbie Ross. Over 10 innings, Adcock had a 4.50 ERA.

      Nate Adcock added to Rangers' 'pen

      The Rangers purchased the contract of pitcher Nate Adcock and added him to the bullpen Thursday, the team announced. Adcock got off to a late start this season while recovering from surgery, but had a 2.76 ERA in 16 1/3 innings at Triple-A Round Rock prior to his call-up.

      Nate Adcock set for Thursday surgery

      The Rangers have announced that right-hander Nate Adcock will undergo Thoracic Outlet Surgery on Thursday. Adcock was reassigned Wednesday to minor league camp. He was expected to compete for a job in the Texas bullpen after pitching well at times a year ago with Kansas City.

      Ben Rowen in group of players demoted by Rangers

      Rangers pitching prospect Ben Rowen, whose progress this spring was hindered by biceps tendinitis, was sent down Wednesday to Triple-A Round Rock. Also banished to Round Rock was fellow reliever Wilmer Font . The team also announced that shortstop Luis Sardinas and pitcher Lisalverto Bonilla were demoted to Double-A and shortstop Rougned Odor and pitcher Nate Adcock have been reassigned.

      Nate Adcock dealing with numbness

      Rangers pitcher Nate Adcock has been dealing with numbness in his right arm and hand and could have thoracic outlet syndrome, reports. Adcock will be examined by a team doctor Tuesday to determine the cause of his numbness. He has surrendered six earned runs on four hits and four walks in 1 2/3 innings over two appearances this spring.

      Rangers sign three to minor-league deals

      The Rangers have signed outfielder Bryan Petersen and pitchers Nathan Adcock and Jose Contreras to minor-league deals with invitations to spring training. Petersen spent all of 2013 with Triple-A New Orleans, hitting .275/.363/.407 with eight home runs, 49 RBI and 12 stolen bases in 506 at-bats. Adcock went 8-6 with a 6.67 ERA, 1.67 WHIP and a 69:50 K:BB ratio in 113 1/3 innings between Triple-A clubs Omaha and Reno. Contreras made seven appearances with the Pirates, allowing five earned runs in five innings, as well as going 2-3 with a 3.00 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 42:12 K:BB ratio in 33 innings across three minor-league levels.
