The Mets signed Beavan to a minor-league deal Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
New York is looking anywhere it can for pitching depth considering the health of Noah Syndergaard (lat). Beavan had worked a 3.79 ERA in the Mexican League and last occupied a major-league roster spot in 2014 with the Mariners. His biggest volume of work came in 2012, when he posted a 4.43 ERA, 3.96 K/9 and 1.42 BB/9 in 26 starts for Seattle. The 28-year-old right-hander will wait for a call to the bigs while at Triple-A Las Vegas.
The Diamondbacks re-assigned six players to minor-league camp Sunday, including pitching prospects Braden Shipley and Aaron Blair.
Shipley allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk in four innings while striking out two in two spring games. Blair surrendered two earned runs on five hits and two walks in seven innings while striking out four in three appearances.
The team also re-assigned pitchers Blake Beaven and Justin Marks as well as catchers Matt Pagnozzi and Mark Thomas.

Making his first start after being recalled from Triple-A Tacoma, Beavan told the Seattle Times after the game he was never able to get loose throughout the start. He struggled to get his velocity up and had to battle through the tightness, before throwing in the towel after 63 pitches.
Beavan was charged with two runs on six hits in his four innings of work, while striking out one batter. He threw 38 of 63 pitches for strikes.
Manager Lloyd McClendon told reporters before the game he was leaning toward having Beavan make another start this weekend, but an issue with his shoulder would certainly throw that into doubt. His status moving forward is not yet known.
