      White Sox option Erik Johnson to Charlotte, make other moves

      The White Sox made a series of moves as they work toward putting together a 25-man roster. Chicago optioned pitcher Erik Johnson and outrighted pitchers Maikel Cleto and Onelki Garcia to Triple-A Charlotte, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. They reassigned pitcher Jairo Asencio, outfielder Engel Beltre, catcher George Kottaras and pitcher Arcenio Leon to minor-league camp. These moves give the White Sox 28 players left in major-league camp. The 40-man roster is not down to 37.

      Penny, Carroll among players signed to minor-league deals by ChiSox

      The White Sox announced Thursday they signed 15 players to minor-league contracts, which included invites to spring training. The 15 players were pitchers Jairo Asencio, Scott Carroll, Jesse Crain, Logan Kensing, Arcenio Leon, J.D. Martin, Brad Penny, Zach Phillips, Joe Savery, catchers George Kottaras and Geovany Soto, infielders Juan Diaz and Andy LaRoche, and outfielders Tony Campana and Michael Taylor.

      The White Sox have signed pitcher Arcenio Leon to a minor-league deal. Leon posted a 3.86 ERA and 61:27 K:BB ratio in 72 1/3 innings between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

      Arcenio Leon re-signs with Brewers

      The Brewers announced Tuesday the signing of reliever Arcenio Leon, reports. Leon will not be invited to big league spring training. The 27-year-old Leon spent last year with Double-A Huntsville and was 2-7 with a 5.68 ERA over 35 games and 10 starts.
