  • Kimball pegged for Triple-A

Nationals manager Davey Johnson said on Sunday that he would prefer Cole Kimball to begin the season at Triple-A Syracuse in order to get some work in the closing role. Kimball last pitched in the majors in 2011 as he continues to recover from rotator cuff surgery. "He's certainly got a good future so we'll be keeping a close eye on him but he's been throwing exceptionally well," Johnson told the Washington Times. "What I'm seeing is he's throwing all his pitches, everyday. He's showing a lot of arm strength and pretty good command of it."
