      White Sox catcher Rob Brantly (knee) is in the lineup Wednesday against the A's, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. A knee issue has limited Brantly over the past several days, but he has been cleared to return behind the plate Wednesday to catch for starter Erik Johnson. Brantly has gone 2-for-12 with a homer so far with the big club after batting .310/.335/.483 in 53 games between Double-A and Triple-A.

      The Marlins reassigned 17 players to the minors Monday, which included optioning top pitching prospect Andrew Heaney to Double-A Jacksonville.       Rob Brantly accepts demotion to third on depth chart

      Marlins catcher Rob Brantly is accepting of his new role. With Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Jeff Mathis expected to make up the catcher tandem for Miami at the start of the season, Brantly has been relegated to third on the depth chart a year after being the team's opening day catcher. "My situation is the same as always, just take advantage of the opportunities that are given to you," Brantly said, per "The rest will fall into place." Brantly said intends to learn as much as he can from Saltalamacchia and Mathis. "Like any player, you always have to be a student of the game," Brantly said.       Marlins promote four from Triple-A

      The Marlins announced Monday they recalled pitchers Brian Flynn, Brad Hand and Arquimedes Caminero, and catcher Rob Brantly from Triple-A New Orleans, according to The Miami Herald. Flynn will make his first career start Wednesday against the Cubs.
