Twins 2B Brian Dozier will not need surgery on hip

Twins second baseman Brian Dozier will not need surgery after an MRI showed no structural damage in his hip, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports. After a great first half of the season in which Dozier posted a .328 on-base percentage and .513 slugging percentage, the second baseman struggled mightily after the All-Star break as he watched his OBP fall to .280 and his slugging percentage to a lowly .359. This dramatic turn prompted some analysts to suggest the 28-year-old might have been injured, but the MRI didn't appear to hint at any sort of severe injury. Dozier should be considered one of the better fantasy second basemen heading into next year and should be fully healthy heading into spring training.

Twins 2B Brian Dozier headed for MRI on hip

Twins second baseman Brian Dozier will have a MRI completed on his hip, the Star Tribune reports. This is a surprising development considering Minnesota never hinted at a possible Dozier injury. No offseason surgeries have been scheduled for any Twins' players, according to MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger, meaning the MRI is probably just a precautionary measure. While more information should be available in the coming weeks, it's likely the slugging second baseman should be ready to go for spring training in 2016.
