      Diamondbacks' Chris Herrmann: Traded to Diamondbacks

      Herrmann was traded to the Diamondbacks on Tuesday for Daniel Palka. A sixth-round pick in 2009, he was woeful with the bat again last season, posting a .146/.214/.272 batting line with a 7:37 BB:K in 113 plate appearances. Herrmann did, however, provide plus value defensively, and it appears he will compete with Oscar Hernandez and Tuffy Gosewisch (knee) for the backup job in spring training.

      Twins shake up roster following four-game sweep

      The Twins made a couple of roster moves following Thursday's 9-3 loss to the Blue Jays. Catcher Chris Herrmann and right-handed reliever A.J. Achter have been recalled from Triple-A Rochester. Herrmann was up earlier with the team, going 10 for 64 with a home run and eight RBI in 25 games as the back-up catcher. Achter will be looking to make his season debut for the Twins. He did make seven appearances in 2014, posting a 3.27 ERA in 11 innings of relief. At Triple-A this year, he is 4-2 with a 2.82 ERA and 14 saves in 40 appearances for the Red Wings. In corresponding moves, right-hander Tyler Duffey was optioned to the minors and catcher Eric Fryer was designated for assignment, according to Duffey endured a horrific MLB debut in his start against the Blue Jays on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Fryer has just three hits in 18 at-bats this season.

      Twins C Chris Hermann optioned to Triple-A; C Eric Fryer recalled

      The Twins have optioned catcher Chris Herrmann to Triple-A Rochester following Tuesday's game. Hermann, who has been backing up starter Kurt Suzuki this year, has 10 hits in 64 at-bats, including a home run and eight RBI. Fellow catcher Eric Fryer has been called up to replace Hermann on the roster. Fryer has spent all season with Triple-A, but has been hitting well. He owns a .299 batting average in 51 games for the Red Wings.

      Twins C Chris Herrmann gets first home run in almost two years

      Twins backup catcher Chris Herrmann blasted his first home run of the season in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jays. The homer was his first in nearly two years, as the last time he went yard was in August of 2013. Herrmann's solo blast in the bottom of the third inning, which was his only hit of the game, gave the Twins an early 1-0 lead. He has had limited playing time this season, with Kurt Suzuki getting the bulk of the starts behind the plate. Herrmann now has seven hits in 41 at-bats this year.
