D-Backs OF Ender inciarte sidelined Saturday with shin injury

Diamondbacks outfielder Ender Inciarte (shin) is not in the lineup Saturday against the Astros. Steve Gilbert of MLB.com did report Inciarte would be available to pinch-hit if necessary. However, in that same report, he seemed to suggest the 24-year-old was still dealing with a large amount of swelling in his injured shin, making his status for Sunday clearly up in the air. Socrates Brito will get the start in right field on Saturday and with David Peralta already ruled out for the remainder of the season it's fair to question if Inciarte will follow suit soon.

Diamondbacks OF Ender Inciarte connects for two HRs

Diamondbacks outfielder Ender Inciarte had a day Sunday in a win over the Padres, going 4 for 5 with his fifth and sixth home runs of the season, three RBI and his 21st stolen base. Inciarte absolutely owned Padres starter James Shields in this one. Power isn't a huge part of Inciarte's game, but he flashes enough of it to keep pitchers honest. He's putting a strong finish on his second season in the big leagues, posting a .333/.375/.442 line with eight steals and 14 runs over the past 30 days. While the D-Backs have a crowded outfield, he is firmly in the mix for 2016.

D-Backs OF Ender Inciarte cooling his heels against on Monday

Diamondbacks outfielder Ender Inciarte is getting a rest on Monday, as he is being held out of the lineup in the series-opener against the Phillies. Inciarte has been a steady, reliable source of production lately. He had started each of the previous 25 games for the D-Backs, batting .325 with six doubles, a triple and a home run. But he'll get the night off, despite the fact that the rather-hittable righty Aaron Harang is on the mound for the Phillies. Yasmany Tomas will enter the lineup for the first time in three games. He'll be in right field and bat sixth on Monday.

A.J. Pollock not in Diamondbacks' lineup

Diamondbacks center fielder A.J. Pollock isn't in the starting lineup for Saturday's game. Pollock left Friday's game early after injuring his hamstring and will get additional rest on Saturday. The absence caused a chain reaction in the Arizona outfield. Ender Inciarte moves to center field after playing the last three in right.

D-Backs' Hale on outfield situation: 'They all deserve to play'

With Ender Inciarte slated to return from the disabled list, Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale is once again faced with a playing time conundrum in the outfield. However, filling out the lineup card has gotten a little harder for Hale, as David Peralta is proving he is no longer a liability against left-handed pitchers and has earned a spot in the starting lineup. "Right/left could determine some things, but David has proven, in his time now with Ender got, that he handles lefties pretty well," Hale said, per The Arizona Republic. "If there's a matchup that has great history, then that guy will definitely be in the lineup. But if there's not much history, we'll just go with the hot hand or who needs a rest the most." Hale mentioned he wants to be careful with right fielder Yasmany Tomas since the regular season in Cuba isn't as long as the MLB season, and he doesn't want the rookie to wear down. Inciarte's return likely means more days off for center fielder A.J. Pollock, who started 23 of 24 games with Inciarte on the disabled list. "They all deserve to play ," Hale said. "I'm sure every day someone will be disappointed they're not in there, but in the end they'll all be better for it. They'll all get rest."

"I feel confident, my legs feel even better than before I got injured and I just can't wait to be back."

Diamondbacks' Ender Inciarte could return next weekend

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale indicated outfielder Ender Inciarte will need a few days after he is eligible to return from the disabled list before he can make his return to the team, reports The Arizona Republic.
