      The Dodgers recalled pitcher Ian Thomas from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Tuesday, manager Don Mattingly said, per SB Nation. Thomas was 3-1 with a 7.09 ERA in six games--five starts--at Oklahoma City. He suffered a loss in his only appearance with the Dodgers this year. To make room, Los Angeles optioned pitcher Eric Surkamp to Triple-A. Surkamp gave up four runs on four hits in his only appearance with the Dodgers.

      Dodgers to promote Eric Surkamp from Triple-A

      Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said the team will promote left-handed pitcher Eric Surkamp from Triple-A on Monday, but remained non-committal if Surkamp will start the game against the Phillies, per the Orange County Register. Surkamp, who started the year with the White Sox before being traded to the Dodgers in May, was 4-2 with a 4.50 ERA in six starts at Oklahoma City. He is 4-3 with a 6.20 ERA in seven MLB starts, all of which were made with the Giants between 2011-13. He appeared in 35 games with the White Sox last season.

      Dodgers trade Blake Smith for White Sox's Eric Surkamp

      The Dodgers traded pitcher Blake Smith for White Sox pitcher Eric Surkamp on Friday, the clubs announced. Surkamp began the year on the 15-day disabled list before being optioned to Triple-A Charlotte by the White Sox. With the White Sox a year ago, he posted a 4.81 ERA in 35 appearances. According to SB Nation's True Blue LA, Surkamp will report to Triple-A Oklahoma City. With Charlotte, Surkamp posted a 2.81 ERA in 11 appearances.

      White Sox pitcher Eric Surkamp picked up a win Tuesday, striking out two and walking one in a scoreless inning of work in his team's 7-5 victory over the Royals. Surkamp (2-0) had given up runs in two of his previous three outings before throwing up a zero Tuesday, and the White Sox offense took the lead for good after Surkamp retired the only batter he faced in the sixth inning. He was pulled with two outs in the seventh after the Royals sent a pinch hitter to the plate. Surkamp owns a 5.66 ERA and 19:11 K:BB ratio in 20 2/3 innings.
