    Pirates make flurry of roster moves on Tuesday

    Following the expansion of the active rosters, the Pirates made a handful of moves on Tuesday. Right-handed reliever Rob Scahill (forearm) was activated from the disabled list. Additionally, the Pirates recalled Jaff Decker , Bobby LaFromboise , Elias Diaz , Travis Snider and Radhames Liz from Triple-A Indianapolis.

    Pirates reliever Rob Scahill will start a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday, manager Clint Hurdle said, per MLB.com. Scahill has been on the disabled list since June with forearm tightness. Scahill is scheduled to pitch two innings or 35 pitches for the Pirates' Gulf Coast League team. After that, he'll return to Pittsburgh to throw for the coaching staff on Monday, then make a second rehab appearance next week, pitching three innings or 50 pitches at Double-A Altoona.

    Pirates RP Rob Scahill throws light bullpen session

    Pirates relief pitcher Rob Scahill threw a light bullpen session on Thursday, as he continues to work his way froma forearm injury, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Scahill also threw some pitches from flat groung earlier this week in Kansas City. "It's all loosened up, so it's all good," Scahill said. Scahill will throw another bullpen session on Saturday before heading to the Pirates' facility in Florida for the beginning of a rehab assignment. "That way it's a little bit easier to get my throwing and stuff in," Scahill said. "If they want me to throw a [simulated] game or something, then none of these guys have to stand in. It can just be against some minor leaguers. Do that maybe once or twice and then hopefully out on rehab after that."

Scahill has thrown twice this week prior to games, and will continue that trend through the weekend.
