      Starling, Mondesi, Dozier among Royals cuts Wednesday

      The Royals announced Wednesday they optioned pitcher Aaron Brooks, infielder Orlando Calixte, outfielder Lane Adams and outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to Triple-A Omaha. They also reassigned pitcher Buddy Baumann, pitcher Brian Broderick, pitcher Casey Coleman, pitcher Joe Paterson, infielder Hunter Dozier, infielder Matt Fields, infielder Raul Mondesi and outfielder Bubba Starling to minor-league camp.

      Royals add two to 40-man roster

      The Royals have added Jorge Bonifacio and Orlando Calixte to the 40-man roster. Bonifacio hit .230/.302/.309 over 566 plate appearances at Double-A last season. Calixte hit .241/.288/.374 in 412 at-bats at Double-A.

      Royals roster moves include sending Kyle Zimmer to minors

      The Royals announced several roster moves Monday, which included sending top pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer to minor-league camp. Jason Adam, Aaron Brooks, Sugar Ray Marimon, Juan Graterol, Brandon Laird, Jorge Bonifacio, Gorkys Hernandez, Melky Mesa and Paulo Orlando were also reassigned to minor-league camp. The Royals also optioned Chris Dwyer to Triple-A Omaha, while optioning John Lamb, Cheslor Cuthbert and Lane Adams to Double-A Northwest Arkansas.

      Royals prospect Jorge Bonifacio out 6-8 weeks

      Royals outfield prospect Jorge Bonifacio will miss 6-8 weeks with a hand injury. Bonifacio was off to a strong start in Double-A Wilmington. Through 126 at-bats, he had a .325 average with one home run. The 19-year-old was moving through the system well, and was one of the younger players on the team's roster.
