Pirates' Gregory Polanco: Given clean bill of health

The Pirates gave Polanco a clean bill of health Thursday. The outfielder was hampered by an injured left knee periodically thorughout the 2015 season, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Polanco, who received a PRP injection following the season, believes the injury contributed to his uneven results - he hit nine homers with 27 stolen bases but compiled a .256/.320/.381 slash line. "It was very difficult," Polanco said "When my knee really started hurting, I couldn't push when I was running, and I couldn't load my backside when I was hitting. It was very hard season, but it made me tougher. It made me feel I can play when I'm not 100 percent. It made me a better player." Polanco's 6-foot-5 body frame might lend itself to injuries. That said, Pittsburgh will likely rely on his offense in 2016 more than ever with the departures of left-handing hitters, Pedro Alvarez and Neil Walker.

Pirates' Gregory Polanco: Received PRP injection

Polanco got a PRP injection in his left knee after the season, the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Bill Brink reports. This is simply a bookkeeping note, as Polanco will be ready for the start of the 2016 season, and presumably won't be troubled by the knee that ailed him at the end of the 2015 campaign. He is a popular breakout candidate and could contribute across the board in his age-24 season.

Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco returns to lineup Sunday

Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco (knee) is back in the lineup Sunday against the Cubs. After sitting out Saturday with the minor knee issue, Polanco will resume leadoff duties and man right field. It's possible that any lingering soreness may result in Polanco acting less aggressively on the basepaths, but it shouldn't inhibit him to the point that fantasy owners will want to consider benching the 24-year-old.

Pirates sitting OF Gregory Polanco on Saturday against Cubs

Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco is not in the starting lineup Saturday against the Cubs. Polanco still isn't completely healthy with a knee that continues to slow him down. That said, the Bucs could be going with Travis Snider in right field on Saturday because he's gone 5 for 11 with two homers off starter Jason Hammel.

Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco is back in the lineup and leading off Friday against the host Cubs. Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco (knee) is out of the lineup Thursday in Colorado but should be back in action Friday for the first game of a critical series against the host Cubs, per Stephen Nesbitt of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco suffered knee injury Wednesday

Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco apparently injured his knee while sliding into second base late in Wednesday's game. He stayed in the game but when he came around to score he was noticeably laboring. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Pirates sit Polanco with the quick turnaround time for Thursday's afternoon contest. Fortunately, the injury doesn't appear to be serious.

Pirates OF Gregory Polanco busts loose with big Thursday

Pirates leadoff hitter Gregory Polanco went 2 for 5 with his ninth homer, two RBI and two runs scored in a 9-6 loss to the Cubs on Thursday. Polanco has been scuffling at the plate since an excellent .330 August, but his latest effort did mark his fourth multi-hit outing of September. He had been on a 3-for-23 slide. The young outfielder has experienced some expected performance fluctuations at the plate this season, but remains on pace to improve on the OBP, slugging, and OPS numbers he tallied as a rookie in 2014.

Pirates' Gregory Polanco not starting in Game 2 of twinbill vs. Cubs

Pirates right fielder Gregory Polanco is not in the lineup for Game 2 of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Cubs. The 24-year-old went 0-for-3 in Game 1 and the Pirates are facing a lefty in Jon Lester in Game 2, so it's not surprising to see Polanco on the bench in favor of Sean Rodriguez. Polanco is batting just .202/.262/.293 against left-handed pitching this season.
