    Orioles invite 15 nonroster players to spring training

    The Orioles announced their spring-training roster Tuesday, including 15 nonroster invitees. Pitchers Dane De La Rosa, Hunter Harvey, Mark Hendrickson, Steve Johnson, Chris Jones and Chaz Roe will be with the team this spring. Harvey, the team's first-round pick in 2013, had his 2014 season end prematurely due to elbow tightness. The sextet of nonroster pitchers will be joined in camp by catchers J.P. Arencibia, Ryan Lavarnway and Brian Ward; infielders Michael Almanzar, Paul Janish and Chris Parmelee; and outfielders Dariel Alvarez, Nolan Reimold and Matt Tuiasosopo .

    The Orioles have released pitcher Chris Jones. Jones was designated for assignment Monday in order to free up a roster spot for outfielder Nelson Cruz. Jones has not debuted in the majors yet, and will seek a job elsewhere.

    The Orioles designated pitcher Chris Jones for assignment Monday, opening a 40-man roster spot for the signing of outfielder Nelson Cruz. Jones spent much of last season with Triple-A Norfolk, going 4-4 with a 2.67 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 47:34 K:BB ratio in 70 2/3 innings over 31 appearances (two starts).

    Orioles add two to 40-man roster

    The Orioles have moved pitchers Dylan Bundy and Christopher Jones to the 40-man roster Monday, The Baltimore Sun reports. Bundy is a top prospect for the Orioles and in Major League Baseball but is coming back from Tommy John surgery. Jones was acquired in the trade that sent Luis Ayala to Atlanta and ended last year with Triple-A Norfolk.

    O's promote reliever Christopher Jones

    The Orioles promoted reliever Christopher Jones from Double-A Bowie to Triple-A Norfolk Saturday, MASNSports.com reports. The 24-year-old Jones was acquired from Atlanta on April 10 for Luis Ayala. Over seven innings for Bowie over four games, Jones has allowed eight hits and two runs with no walks and six strikeouts.

    Orioles acquire minor-league reliever

    The Orioles acquired minor-league pitcher Chris Jones from the Braves in exchange for reliever Luis Ayala. Jones has been assigned to Double-A Bowie. Jones is 24-20 with a 3.58 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 356 2/3 innings in his minor-league career. He has started and pitched in relief, but he's been solely a reliever the last few years.
