Mariot is expected to assume a low-leverage relief role with the Royals after accruing a 2.32 ERA and 72 strikeouts over 62 innings at Omaha. He's made only one appearance with the big club this season, but compiled a 6.48 ERA over 25 innings with Kansas City in 2014.
