      Diamondbacks recall six players from minors

      The Diamondbacks made a number of moves to their roster on Tuesday, the team announced. Arizona recalled Jhoulys Chacin , Andrew Chafin , Jamie Romak and Allen Webster from Triple-A Reno, while also bringing up Socrates Brito from Double-A Mobile. Pitcher Evan Marshall was also recalled from Reno, and will be added to the 60-day disabled list.

      Diamondbacks promote RP Silvino Bracho

      The Diamondbacks announced Sunday they have selected the contract of pitcher Silvino Bracho from Double-A Mobile to join the bullpen. This is Bracho's first promotion to the majors. He was 2-1, with a 1.60 ERA, over 43 appearances between Single-A and Double-A this season. To make room for Bracho, the D-Backs optioned reliever Andrew Chafin to Triple-A, in part to give him some rest. Chafin was 5-1 with a 2.41 ERA in 55 games. "He's going down to get rest. We've run him hard this year," manager Chip Hale said.

      Diamondbacks RP Andrew Chafin picks up three-inning save

      Diamondbacks relief pitcher Andrew Chafin was immaculate after replacing starter Jeremy Hellickson during Sunday's game against the Padres. Chafin allowed just two hits over the final three innings of the game and earned his first save of the season. Chafin (4-0) has a 2.95 ERA with 25 strikeouts and nine walks in 36 2/3 innings this season.

      Diamondbacks' Andrew Chafin tosses three perfect innings Friday

      Diamondbacks reliever Andrew Chafin delivered three perfect innings and struck out one in his team's 4-3, 10-inning win over the Dodgers Friday. "Chafin was the key tonight with the three innings," manager Chip Hale said after the game, per the Arizona Republic. "He was just great picking us up and getting us back in the dugout." Chafin has now retired 16 straight batters since giving up a run on a hard-hit ball in the season debut. "I don't know if I'd say locked in, but I'm definitely feeling a little bit more comfortable out there," Chafin said. "Not that I was uncomfortable then. I've found a bit of a rhythm now and seem to be throwing the ball well." Chafin envisions himself as a starting pitcher long-term but is enjoying coming out of the bullpen. "I like the excitement coming out of the bullpen," Chafin said. "It's a, 'Hey you, get hot, you're in' kind of thing. There's not as much thinking for it. You're able to just go out there and let it fly."

      Diamondbacks pitcher Andrew Chafin has earned a spot on the team's Opening Day roster, Tony La Russa announced Saturday. Chafin was competing for a spot in Arizona's bullpen and posted a 4.73 ERA with 14 strikeouts in nine appearances this spring.

      Diamondbacks' Nuno, Chafin only being considered for bullpen

      Diamondbacks pitchers Vidal Nuno and Andrew Chafin are only being considered for bullpen roles and no longer under consideration for the starting rotation, manager Chip Hale said Sunday per Nuno has appeared in two games this spring, posting a 10.80 ERA in five innings. Chafin has a 6.75 ERA in four innings, allowing six hits and three runs.

      Andrew Chafin gives up four runs in loss vs. Twins

      Diamondbacks pitcher Andrew Chafin took a loss Tuesday, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks in three-plus innings while striking out five in his team's 6-3 defeat against the Twins. Chafin (0-1) did well in his first two starts before struggling Tuesday, giving up three runs in a second inning that was only ended by a hitter trying to stretch a single into a double. He then opened the fourth with a double and a single before being removed. Chafin owns a 3.86 ERA and 10:8 K:BB ratio in 14 innings. He isn't scheduled for another start.

      Andrew Chafin gives up two runs in no-decision vs. Giants

      Diamondbacks pitcher Andrew Chafin wasn't a factor in Wednesday's decision, allowing two earned runs on three hits and four walks in six innings and striking out two in his team's 4-2 loss to the Giants. Chafin gave up a run in the top of the second inning on an RBI double, but his offense responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run to tie the game. The starter then surrendered another run in the fifth on a sacrifice, but the offense picked him back up again in the next half-inning to keep the score tied. Chafin has been solid in two starts despite having an issue with free passes. He owns a 1.64 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 5:6 K:BB ratio in 11 innings. He's scheduled to face the Twins Tuesday.
