      Angels activate Matt Joyce, David Freese, make other moves

      The Angels activated the following players from the disabled list: Collin Cowgill, Taylor Featherston, David Freese, Matt Joyce and Cory Rasmus. Freese will start in Tuesday's contest. Moreover, the team called up Jett Bandy, Michael Morin, Nick Tropeano and Wesley Wright. The team also designated Alfredo Marte and Drew Rucinski for assignment.

      Angels place RP Cory Rasmus, INF Taylor Featherston on DL

      The Angels have placed reliever Cory Rasmus and infielder Taylor Featherston on the disabled list, per the Orange County Register. Rasmus is dealing with a forearm strain after losing much of the season to an abdominal injury. He goes down with a 5.06 ERA in seven apparances and four runs allowed in his last four innings pitched. Featherston, who is sidelined with an upper back strain, owns a terrible slash line of .130/.198/.196 in 92 at-bats. He has been used mostly as a defensive replacement.

      Angels' Cory Rasmus will start Sunday vs. Dodgers

      Angels right-hander Cory Rasmus will be tabbed to make the start against the Dodgers on Sunday. Rasmus, who was recalled earlier this week, will make his first start of the season for the Angels. He did pitch an inning of relief on Friday, his first appearance of 2015. Rasmus has made 10 appearances--including three starts--with Triple-A Salt Lake this year. He is 0-1 with a 2.35 ERA in 15 1/3 innings with the Bees.

      The Angels recalled reliever Cory Rasmus from Triple-A Salt Lake City on Thursday, per Rasmus is 0-1 with a save and a 2.35 ERA at Salt Lake City. He last pitched for the Angels last season. Rasmus takes the spot of Mike Morin, who was optioned after Wednesday's game.

      A pair of Angels pitchers continued their rehab assignments with Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday. Right-hander Cory Rasmus, working his way back from abdominal surgery, made the start for the Bees. He went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one run on two hits while striking out five. He was lifted after throwing 31 pitches. Meanwhile, Mike Morin pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up the save on Saturday. Morin is recovering from an oblique injury. Neither pitcher has a clear timetable to be activated from the disabled list at this point.

      Angels' Rasmus to build up to 50-60 pitches on rehab assignment

      Angels pitcher Cory Rasmus (abdominal) has made two appearances through Tuesday on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Salt Lake. He has allowed two runs on two hits and no walks in 1 2/3 innings. He has two strikeouts. Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Rasmus will build up to 50-60 pitches in case he needs to make a spot start, per The Orange County Register. He threw 18 pitches in his first rehab appearance and 11 pitches in his second outing.
