Mariners 3B Kyle Seager goes yard in Wednesday loss

Mariners third baseman Kyle Seager certainly made the most of his one hit Wednesday against Houston. He knocked it out of the park for a three-run homer. Seager must have been inspired by the promotion of his brother to the Dodgers as he's been scorching hot over the last two months. Most people consider Corey Seager a better prospect than Kyle, but hitting .339 with eight homers and 10 doubles over a 32-game stretch is tough to argue with.

Dodgers' Corey Seager sitting out second straight with legs issue

Dodgers infielder Corey Seager is out of the lineup Friday against the Rockies, Ken Gurnick of reports. Seager is dealing with "heavy legs" according to the report. Seager is receiving a second straight off day Friday because of the issue, but he will reportedly rejoin the lineup at some point during the weekend series. Jimmy Rollins will start at shortstop in his place again Friday, batting second for the Dodgers.

Dodgers SS Corey Seager hits two-run homer in win over Pirates

Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager went 1 for 4 with a two-run home run in a 6-2 win over Pittsburgh on Friday. The expectations couldn't have been higher for Seager, but he very well may be exceeding them. Seager now has a cool .412/.508/.647 slash line and he's surely making the injured Jimmy Rollins nervous. It would be surprising to see manager Don Mattingly pull him out of the lineup for Rollins when he returns, but the manager has done stranger things for the sake of "veteran leadership." In any case, use Seager while he's hot and while he's still playing.

Dodgers torrid SS Corey Seager rips two more hits Wednesday

Dodgers sizzling shortstop Corey Seager was 2 for 4 with an RBI single Wednesday to improve his slash line to .426/.526/.617 over his last 47 at-bats. He has nine walks to just six strikeouts and has reached base in all 13 games he's appeared in during that time. Jimmy Rollins should be back shortly from a finger injury, but it's going to be tough for manager Don Mattingly to justify sitting Seager despite his earlier declaration that Rollins would assume the position upon his return.

Dodgers SS Corey Seager homers in perfect Saturday

Dodgers rookie shortstop Corey Seager is destined for the bench once the injured Jimmy Rollins returns. But he is certainly trying to give manager Don Mattingly a second thought on that plan. Seager slammed four hits in a Saturday defeat of Arizona. He singled in a run in the first, singled in another in the second, blasted a solo homer in the fifth and doubled and scored in the ninth. He also walked in reaching base in all five plate appearances. He now owns a six-game hitting streak in which he is batting .500 (10 for 20).

Mattingly: Corey Seager to sit when Jimmy Rollins returns

Don Mattingly has announced that Dodgers promising rookie shortstop Corey Seager will be benched when veteran Jimmy Rollins returns from a hand injury. "When Jimmy gets back, we plan on playing Jimmy," Mattingly told the Los Angeles Times. Seager made his fifth straight start at that position Saturday. He arrived on a five-game hitting streak.

Dodgers' Corey Seager goes 2 for 4, drives in two in MLB debut

Dodgers rookie Corey Seager had an impressive big-league debut on Thursday. The young infielder went 2 for 4 four with a double, two RBI and two runs scored in the 10-7 loss to the Padres. Since 1914, Seager is just one of two Dodgers rookies to have at least two hits, two RBI and a double in his Major League debut. Russell Martin was the other. Seager struck out in his first big-league at-bat, but he shook that off for what was a very fine debut.
