    Royals option Orlando Calixte Monday

    The Royals optioned infielder Orlando Calixte to Triple-A Omaha Monday, clearing a roster spot to active Mike Moustakas from the bereavement list, the Kansas City Star reports. Calixte failed to get a hit as a pinch-hitter in his only appearance during this stint with the team. He has hit .167/.205/.286 with one stolen base in 42 at-bats with Omaha.

    Royals recall Brandon Finnegan, send down Orlando Calixte

    The Royals brought up pitcher Brandon Finnegan on Friday and sent down shortstop Orlando Calixte to its Triple-A affiliate, the team announced. Finnegan started the season at Double-A, while Calixte was 0 for 2 in his lone appearance this season. Manager Ned Yost said Finnegan will work out of the bullpen initially and he does not have a definitive role for him yet, reports The Kansas City Star.

    Royals send down Fuentes, add Calixte for infield depth

    The Royals recalled infielder Orlando Calixte and optioned outfielder Reymond Fuentes down to Triple-A Omaha, per the Kansas City Star. Calixte began the minor-league season with a .154 batting average (4 for 26) with two walks, three runs scored, a double, a home run and an RBI in seven games. The move gives Kansas City infield depth after Alcides Escobar went down with a left knee sprain and contusion. Christian Colon got the start at shortstop in Escobar's place on Saturday.

    The Royals announced Wednesday they optioned pitcher Aaron Brooks, infielder Orlando Calixte, outfielder Lane Adams and outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to Triple-A Omaha. They also reassigned pitcher Buddy Baumann, pitcher Brian Broderick, pitcher Casey Coleman, pitcher Joe Paterson, infielder Hunter Dozier, infielder Matt Fields, infielder Raul Mondesi and outfielder Bubba Starling to minor-league camp.

    The Royals have added Jorge Bonifacio and Orlando Calixte to the 40-man roster. Bonifacio hit .230/.302/.309 over 566 plate appearances at Double-A last season. Calixte hit .241/.288/.374 in 412 at-bats at Double-A.
