Chris Martin: Plans to sign in Japan after release by Yankees on Wednesday

Martin was released by the Yankees on Wednesday and intends to sign with the Nippon Ham Fighters of Japan. Martin spent time between Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and the major leagues in 2015, posting a 5.66 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 20.2 innings with the Yankees. He was plagued an elbow injury as well, which sidelined him for much of May. The 29-year-old was mostly organizational bullpen depth for the Yankees, so he's probably hoping for a bigger pitching role by moving to Japan.
