      John Gast, Jermaine Curtis outrighted

      The Cardinals outrighted starting pitcher John Gast and outfielder Jermaine Curtis to Triple-A Memphis Wednesday. Both spent time in the majors in 2013. Gast made three starts before tearing his left lat in July. Curtis went hitless in three at-bats.

      Cardinals add Oscar Taveras, two others to 40-man roster

      The Cardinals added top outfield prospect Oscar Taveras, infielder Jermaine Curtis and pitcher John Gast to the team's 40-man roster Wednesday. Taveras, who was ranked the No. 3 prospect in baseball by and Baseball America before the season, hit .306/.341/.462 with five home runs and 32 RBI in 173 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis. He is recovering from August ankle surgery and is expected to be ready by spring training. Curtis hit .257/.355/.349 with five home runs, 49 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 370 at-bats with Triple-A Memphis. Gast went 2-0 with a 5.11 ERA in three starts with the Cardinals and 3-1 with a 1.16 ERA in seven starts with Triple-A Memphis.

      Jermaine Curtis sent back to minors

      The Cardinals optioned outfielder Jermaine Curtis to Triple-A Memphis Thursday. Curtis made just two pinch-hit appearances in his latest recall for St. Louis, going 0 for 1 with a hit by pitch.

      The Cardinals have promoted infielder Jermaine Curtis to the majors Tuesday. Curtis will take the spot of reliever Michael Blazek. He's appeared in three games in the majors. He's hitless in two at-bats, but did walk in his other plate appearance.

      Jermaine Curtis sent back to Triple-A

      The Cardinals have sent infielder Jermaine Curtis back to Triple-A after a brief major-league call-up. The club needed to make room for Matt Adams, who is eligible to return from the disabled list Tuesday. Curtis was sent to Triple-A Memphis Monday morning, and was in its starting lineup.

      Cardinals call on Jermaine Curtis

      The Cardinals promoted third baseman Jermaine Curtis from Triple-A Memphis on Friday to take the spot of Matt Adams after he was placed on the 15-day disabled list. Curtis was hitting .292 with five extra-base hits and 17 RBI in 17 games with the PCL club.
