      Pirates acquire Jayson Aquino from Blue Jays for cash

      The Pirates acquired pitcher Jayson Aquino from the Blue Jays in exchange for cash considerations, the team announced Sunday. Aquino was designated for assignment on May 5 after going 2-2 with a 2.81 ERA in five starts with Class A Duendin. He hsa made just two starts above the high Class A level. Aquino will report to Class A Bradenton.

      Blue Jays recall Chris Colabello, option Jonathan Diaz

      The Blue Jays have recalled utility man Chris Colabello and optioned infielder Jonathan Diaz to Triple-A Buffalo, th team announced Tuesday. In addition, pitcher Jayson Aquino was designated for assignment. Colabello posted a .337 average with five home runs in 23 games in Triple-A this season. The 31-year-old hit .229 with six home runs in 2014 for the Twins. Diaz is 0 for 5 with one RBI this season.

      The Blue Jays have optioned pitcher Jayson Aquino to Double-A New Hampshire. Aquino was acquired from the Rockies in exchange for prospect Tyler Ybarra in February. He went 5-10 with a 5.40 ERA and 74:30 K:BB ratio in 107 innings with high Class A Modesto in 2014.

      Report: Blue Jays trade Ybarra for Rockies' Aquino

      The Blue Jays acquired left-handed pitcher Jayson Aquino by trading right-handed pitching prospect Tyler Ybarra to the Rockies, according to a report from Sportsnet's Shi Davidi. Aquino was recently designated for assignment by the Rockies. He will be invited to Toronto's spring training. In five seasons of minor league baseball, Aquino holds a 2.84 ERA. Ybarra, also with five seasons under him, has a 3.09 minor-league ERA.

      After completing a two-team trade Friday, the Rockies decided to designate Jayson Aquino for assignment, the team announced. Aquino spent 2014 bouncing around the minor league, pitching in 18 games with a 5.13 ERA in 107 innings pitched. He went 5-10 with 83 strikeouts in stints with both Double-A Tulsa and Class A Modesto.

Aquino was hit in the head by a liner in an intrasquad game Thursday but avoided a concussion and was able to pitch in a game situation Wednesday. He compiled an 0-10 record and a 4.34 ERA in 87 innings between two minor-league levels last season.

Matthes .281/.334/.503 with 20 home runs, 63 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 431 at-bats between Double-A Tulsa and Triple-A Colorado Springs. Parker hit .288/.345/.492 with 23 home runs and 74 RBI in 480 at-bats with Double-A Tulsa. Aquino went 0-10 with a 4.34 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 73:26 K:BB ratio in 87 innings between low Class A Tri-City and Class A Asheville. Fernandez went 2-2 with a 6.29 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 55:11 K:BB ratio in 34 1/3 innings with Class A Asheville. Matzek went 8-9 with a 3.79 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 95:76 K:BB ratio in 142 1/3 innings for Double-A Tulsa. Sitton went 6-5 with a 2.93 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 63:27 K:BB ratio in 67 2/3 innings with high Class A Modesto.
