Sam Selman's career off to promising start
Royals starting pitcher prospect Sam Selman had a successful debut for Class A Wilmington Tuesday. The left-hander earned the win by throwing five scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks. Selman struck out four and posted a 0.60 WHIP. He is 6-4 with a 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in his first 14 career appearances (13 starts). He is also striking out 12.8 batters per nine innings. Selman, a 2012 second-round pick, is considered the Royals' 12th-best prospect by MLB.com.
