      Starling, Mondesi, Dozier among Royals cuts Wednesday

      The Royals announced Wednesday they optioned pitcher Aaron Brooks, infielder Orlando Calixte, outfielder Lane Adams and outfielder Jorge Bonifacio to Triple-A Omaha. They also reassigned pitcher Buddy Baumann, pitcher Brian Broderick, pitcher Casey Coleman, pitcher Joe Paterson, infielder Hunter Dozier, infielder Matt Fields, infielder Raul Mondesi and outfielder Bubba Starling to minor-league camp.

      Royals' Hunter Dozier ready for bounce season in 2015

      Royals prospect Hunter Dozier had a 2014 season to forget. Kansas City's top pick in the 2013 MLB Draft hit .209/.303/.312 in 64 games at Double-A Northwest Arkansas. "I think it would have happened anywhere, whether I was at high-A ball or Double-A," he said to "For some reason, I just started overthinking everything. I started looking for changeups when I shouldn't have. I should have just stayed with my normal routine." It was the first significant time in his career that Dozier experienced struggles at the plate. "It's good that I went through it," Dozier said. "Now I know how to snap out of one of those slumps. I know that I shouldn't change anything like my approach -- just stay with it, stay with the routine."

      Hunter Dozier promoted to Double-A

      Royals third base prospect Hunter Dozier has been promoted from Class A Wilmington to Double-A Northwest Arkansas, per The 2013 first-round pick (8th) hit .295 with a .397 on-base percentage, .429 slugging percentage and .826 OPS in 66 games for Wilmington. He had four home runs, 18 doubles, 39 RBI, 36 runs, 35 walks, 36 strikeouts and seven stolen bases.

      Royals promote Hunter Dozier to Class A

      Royals 2013 first-round pick Hunter Dozier has been promoted to Class A Lexington. Dozier was hitting .293/.397/.505 in 188 at-bats at Idaho Falls. Dozier was the eighth overall pick in the 2013 draft.

      Hunter Dozier filling up stat sheet

      Royals shortstop prospect Hunter Dozier is about a month into his pro baseball career, but the 2013 first-round pick (eighth overall) is having little trouble filling up the stat sheet for Idaho Falls (rookie). Dozier is batting .286 (28 for 98) with two home runs, 11 doubles, 14 RBI and 18 runs in 25 games. He also has more walks (16) than strikeouts (13), while adding two stolen bases. Surprisingly, the right-handed hitter is having more success against right-handed pitchers. Dozier is batting .302 (26 for 86) against righties, as opposed to .167 (2 for 12) against lefties.
